Children’s Behavioral Services
In Home Behavioral Services (IHBS)
In Home Behavioral Services (IHBS) offer valuable support to youth and adolescents exhibiting challenging behaviors that get in the way of everyday life. Services are provided by a behavioral health professional who is skilled in understanding and treating difficult behaviors in youth. The provider works closely with the child and family to determine the function of the behavior and to create a behavior support plan to improve the youth’s functioning. The provider also works as a team with a behavior monitor. IHBS is provided in homes and in community settings.Â
Autism/Applied Behavioral Services (ABA)
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. It can improve social, communication, and learning skills through positive reinforcement. The ultimate goal is to support the individual to become an active participant within his or her family, home and community.
At the Edinburg Center, Autism (ABA) Services are provided to persons under 21 years old (MassHealth) or under 26 (Commercial), with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. A team consisting of a Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst (LABA)/ Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a Behavior Technician (BT_ provide services in the home and community. The team works closely with the person and any caregivers to create and implement a Behavior Support Plan (BSP), based on the person’s current abilities. The BSP focuses on teaching socially appropriate behavior including adaptive and communication skills to replace and reduce behaviors that interfere with everyday life. The team assures that strategies used during direct instruction for each person-served, are carried over throughout the day with all care providers.
