On June 5th, The Center’s Diversity Committee held a 3D Luncheon (Diverse, Delectable Dinning) for The Center’s staff. This event focused on Kenya and Zimbabwe and included presentations by Festus Mbuva and Sharon Gunda as well as delicious cuisine from both countries. During this presentation, we were also introduced to Chrome Head Quarters Primary School in Mashonaland West Province, Zimbabwe, and Kakuswi School of the Deaf in Kenya. Both organizations work tirelessly to provide education and to improve the quality of life for children with developmental disabilities.
The Edinburg Center celebrated the First Day of Summer with a visit from Mo’s Ice Cream Truck. Both staff and clients enjoyed a variety of treats on what we hope is the first of many beautiful summer afternoons. The celebration also included a fundraiser for the schools that were presented at the 3D Diversity Luncheon this month.
